The Ultimate in Papercraft

A visit to the Hobbycraft show at the NEC in Birmingham last Saturday to lead a workshop for Kanban, along with our lovely DT member Denise Holmes. We used our latest, lovely kit “Denim and Lace”. It was great fun and even had chance to look around and Buy a few things – well you can’t not, can you, lol. I was absolutely in awe of this wonderful display in the entrance, made entirely out of paper. Absolutely amazing. Has to be the ultimate in papercrafting x

Long time – no Blog

Well I’m finally back in the land of Blogging. I thought I would share a recent demo I made on “Create & Craft” this week, when we launched our new Kanban kit “Denim and Lace” It is a beautiful kit full of owls, lace, denim, flowers, buttons and hearts. This is a wall/window hanging that I made on the show. The frame is made using a sheet of 300gsm card that has been cut into 8 length ways, at 1 inch intervals. These have then been covered on one side with a strip of background card cut slightly smaller. I have glued 4 strips together – with the background patterned card on the reverse – at the overlap in each corner. I then attached a piece of acetate 7 inches square on the inside of the frame. The frame is then finished off with another 4 pieces of matching covered card on top of the acetate. I then attached a topper in the middle of the acetate – the acetate gives the illusion that the topper in the centre of the frame is floating. To finish the hanging off, I added a few flowers, buttons and a sentiment on top of the frame. If you want to use the frame as a window hanging, then attach another topper on the rear of the frame as it will be seen from both sides. I love this kit. It is cheerful, has lots of embellishments, the owls are sweet and it is a delight to work with. I hope you like it as much as I do x

Flying High

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAAn MDF door hanger painted with blue acrylic paint and decorated with pearlescent texture paste using one of Aspire Crafts kite stencils and the bunting stencil. The pearlescent texture paste has been coloured with a little dark green acrylic paint and had some small glass micro beads to give it a further point of difference. I think it works very well. I’ve added the name “BEN” using some of the Aspire Crafts Dekromounts, which have been left white for contrast. Hope you like it x

Thoughts of Summer

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAA tag I’ve made using the Aspire Crafts “Cut and Colour” Collection. It has all been coloured using distress inks – Mustard Seed, Spiced Marmalade and Barn Door. I love the flexibility of this collection as it looks so elegant left in its natural state – white with foiling, or coloured with the many different mediums available x
